Progress Toward Strategic Goals
The DELTA strategic plan encompasses our focus on quality in everything we do. We’re leading the digital transformation of teaching and learning, partnering with others to share best practices while enhancing learning opportunities, aligning DELTA services and customer needs, and cultivating a collaborative, inclusive and agile organization.

DELTA Goal 1
- Impacted thousands of students through 65 DELTA Grants and DELTA Express Grants projects with focuses on unique instructional challenges, course improvements based on the Quality Matters rubric, design and development of instructional materials, hybrid learning, course accessibility, virtual tours and more.
- Continued support of Wicked Problems, Wolfpack Solutions in its fifth year with 18% of incoming students completing the course. Materials from the course were publicly shared to make course content accessible to educators outside of the university.
- Supported 16 courses earning Quality Matters (QM) certification. 35 faculty and staff completed QM workshops. 14,351 students enrolled in QM-certified courses at NC State.
- Awarded 80 total DELTA Workshop badges to recognize instructor achievements and showcase the cohesive professional development experience.
- Co-facilitated the Conference on Faculty Excellence which had more than 140 attendees.
- Championed accessibility efforts through the Accessibility Express Grants — an inaugural program at the university.
- Continued to partner with NC State University Libraries on Alt-Textbook Projects, funding 17 course projects with the potential to save more than 7,000 students nearly $800,000 annually.
- Provided first-time media support to an Alt-Textbook grant — Health Exercise Studies Speciality: Skiing and Snowboarding (HESS 252 ) — including filming and production of 68 instructional videos.
- Created 15 new pages for the DELTA Teaching Resources site, resulting in views jumping 402% this fiscal year. The instructional training team also supported all 12 colleges offering 117 synchronous workshops, 11 custom workshops and numerous self-paced opportunities.
- Published 113 new knowledge base articles (KBAs) and updated an additional 193 for a total of 304 KBAs with approximately 117,000 article views this year.
- Continued to invest in WolfWare’s reliable and robust enterprise suite of academic technologies and tools, which are used by 93% of students at NC State. Tools include Zoom, Moodle, Top Hat, Panopto, PlayPosit, Gradescope, Wooclap, Intelliboard, Yellowdig and many more.
- Improved our IT and AV infrastructure to continue providing full-service support for distance education classrooms.
- Led multiple assessment projects to inform decision-making and promote student success in all digital education modalities.
- Shared code and contributed solutions to Moodle core. The team also engaged in significant efforts to integrate the Brickyard login across more tools.
DELTA Goal 2
- Continued the shared business services model with NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education. The team surveyed both divisions to seek input on current operations — 92% said they are satisfied or very satisfied with current processes.
- Led the university’s SARA compliance and analyzed distance education enrollment data and out-of-state learning placement data to meet SARA requirements.
- Participated in a strategic planning institute in partnership with the Office of Global Engagement and the Office for Faculty Excellence to develop a plan to expand international online learning.
- Collaborated with multiple campus units and colleges to support student success, faculty development, training and more.
- Shared marketing and communication services with NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education to position the unit as the premier option for non-degree credentials and opportunities.
- Promoted DELTA within the university through 380 DELTA News articles, the monthly DELTA Connections newsletter and additional channels. Contributions to NC State Online programs also included articles, graduate profiles and social media campaigns.
- Supported WolfWare Outreach enrollments, which have increased 10% this fiscal year. 296 WolfWare Outreach courses were offered with 137 instructors supporting 59 programs. 16 divisions used this service with a total of 9,232 registrations.
DELTA Goal 3
- Reorganized and reviewed the DELTA organizational structure to align services. DELTA also reclassified and promoted staff members this year in an effort to recognize and retain staff.
- Continued to meet the need for in-person exam proctoring, which surpassed pre-pandemic levels. DELTA provided proctoring services for 21,835 students with 96,720 local exams and 8,248 remote exams. The team also transitioned 4,892 paper exams to tablets.
- Focused project management support to lead large projects, oversee process implementation and improvements, and to lead retrospectives ensuring continuous improvements.
- Refined the WolfWare feature request system to respond to faculty’s suggestions and reduce the backlog of requests.
- Revamped the distance education coordinators meeting to offer meaningful opportunities for coordinators to engage and learn from each other.
- Collaborated with campus stakeholders and served on 46 different committees, task forces, steering teams, and on-campus organizations to further the work of the university.
- Streamlined the non-degree studies (NDS) application process and continued to oversee this process for 33 online and distance education undergraduate certificates, licensure, and site-based programs — processing 1,294 applications this fiscal year.
DELTA Goal 4
- Increased use of the ClickUp project management system to track 12 teams working across more than 20 initiatives.
- Continued to embrace an agile mindset and focused on prioritization and accountability. Continued to build elements of agile methodology as a foundational part of our work culture.
- Integrated ClickUp with GitHub to increase planning capabilities of the AppsDev and Systems Support teams and provide the teams with a visible roadmap.
- Implemented a full-scale Mentoring @ DELTA program after a successful pilot that offered both permanent and professional temporary staff a positive experience.
- Continued to review and update the DELTA Employee Guide to enhance current content and add new pages for staff to easily find and adopt.
- Received a Gold certification for the 2024 Well Wolfpack Workplace. The Human Resources team was also recognized as wellness champions and continues to share resources and workshops to promote wellness opportunities with all staff members.
- Hosted a DELTA staff picnic where staff achievements such as years of service awards and Pride of the Wolfpack awards were presented and celebrated.
- Continued cross-unit and cross-team meetings, one-to-one meetings, and project retrospectives as regular practices across the organization to encourage and share feedback.
